Interview Report


I’m writing this report about “Tutti Frutti” franschise. There are many of Tutti Frutti branches or franchise was open all over in Malaysia. I have chosen to do my research in Puchong outlet, which located inside IOI Mall, Puchong. Other then went to IOI Mall outlet to interview people in charged, I also take the opportunities to interview and get more information from the franchise expo at PWTC last month. After few question from PWTC Tutti Frutti booth I understand more about Tutti Frutti but still not enough or detail about the outlet I choose. I then went to the outlet in IOI Mall for get more inform about their outlet. Here are a logo of Tutti Frutti and short introduction of Tutti Frutti.

Introduction
Tutti Frutti is one of the leaders for breakfast specialized restaurants which offer the highest quality food for a relaxing sensation. Tutti Frutti started their grand vision in 1992 for successful. Tutti frutti is sliced fruit which has been candied or dried to preserve it.

Tutti Frutti is a kind of mixture of fruit and nuts and normally mixing into ice cream and with some sweets. It is also a favorite of all children, teenagers and adults nowadays.
Tutti Frutti in Malaysia is known as “frozen yogurt” or “yogurt ice-cream”. It is ice-cream with you can enjoy it mixing with nuts, sweet, cereal or choc chips. There are quite many country own the license of Tutti Frutti, included Malaysia. Other country are Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Brunei, Qatar and Asia, Middle East Countries or African Nations.

Tutti Frutti vision is to “deliver the best customer experience and provide the highest quality products at a reasonable price, which all people can enjoy their products.” It means to serve the best and good quality to the customer at a n affordable price.
Tutti Frutti mission is to produce the highest quality frozen yogurt for people all around the world to enjoy it. Tutti Frutti use only finest dairy products to make the premium frozen yogurt products.

The yogurt cultures are living bacteria in your yogurt. To have a certificate for yogurt cultures they must have the count of amount of living bacteria. Tutti Frutti products from Tutti Frutti products were certified as live cultured. One of Tutti Frutti product, premium frozen yogurt is already a certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union.

A potential benefit from Tutti Frutti is, can help the immune system and preventing constipation, diarrhea, and bloating. Tutti Frutti even can prevent colon cancer. It is low blood pressure and low cholesterol, which mean it suitable for older people. It also can help improve immune function and prevent infections also reduce inflammation. Product / Service

From my interview, I get to know that Tutti Frutti have more than 40 flavours and also more than 40 toppings. Their product is not all provides at an outlet, only some outlet have most of the flavour or more wide varieties to choose. Almost every outlet will have the original, vanilla and chocolate flavour.

They have topping like fruit; peach, grape, banana, passion, pineapple, strawberry, blueberry and more. Besides Tutti Frutti also have a choice in other types of topping like nuts, almost, cereal, chocoball, rainbow rice, gummy bear and more. They also have liquid topping like strawberry and chocolate liquid.

Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt have special and good quality yogurt which taste great and good in nutrition. They are now serving international with soft frozen yogurt brand of Well Spring. It is no sugar mixed, smooth base frozen yogurt, and natural flavours. Tutti Frutti work to the best by giving the best services and healthy products.

Tutti Frutti often launches their new product every month to surprise their customers. Tutti Frutti product also were reached the customer need especially is for youngest. Tutti Frutti often have discount, promotion or offers to clear off all the old stock. Tutti Frutti brand are very safe for the general income, which it is now a stable and world known brands.


Process

Tutti Frutti always promotes their new flavour to attract new customer and promote about their incoming event. Most of it for special days like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Merdeka and other special days, you can get a promotion like 50 percent discount for second cup of Tutti Frutti frozen yogurt with every purchase above RM20.  The latest promotion ongoing is student discount and ladies day. Student offer is getting 10 percent offer for every cup by presenting your student id.

As for ladies day, ladies can enjoy 15 percent off; this is for all females Tutti Frutti fans. All this technique is to promote their new event and new flavours.

In Tutti Frutti company has a provide training for their employee to improve their services and to get them updated. They also provide good environment for their employee for training using good equipments and also facilities which had prepare by their company. Tutti Frutti requires providing the best training for all employees. Tutti Frutti, is a own independence company because they does not have any sponsor of partner to support in their financial.

Tutti Frutti has a 150 franchise outlet around the world and the franchise of them will have provided them a yogurt machine for all of the outlets. For any construction or maintenance will be fully pay for the franchise and of course it have lease agreement. Based on what a Tutti Frutti select a franchise or open a new store they would provide a site selection or development, financials, training, and opening your new store.

Tutti Frutti always promotes their brands using all kind of method like billboard, banner, TVC and more. Mostly they start it at the month of September.


Profitability

How much you need to start up a Tutti Frutti store!? It is counting by the size of the space, cost is around the range between RM180,000 to RM 300,000. As for the initial investment, it will cost you at least a minimum of RM150,000 in cash or in liquid assets.

Tutti Frutti have this royalties in money program, which it help people who newly starting up a Tutti Frutti store. Most of it new open and cares for the success of the franchise. Tutti Frutti Company understands that basically in the first year is the hardest year for them who newly start up. This is why Tutti Frutti provides a free royal for them in 3 years period for the franchisees. In these 3 years, Tutti Frutti will carry out a royalties and the maximum amount will be on 5 percent.

Tutti Frutti will always analyze on each people who wish to be a franchisees of the location they want. Tutti Frutti will offer materials which support the new store are available. Tutti Frutti will also provide new materials, public campaigns and also the local area would help to build brand until success and you will have an access to their marketing account website and also the industry relationship would know that they would check a on what you need before start building it and get the profits.

Tutti Frutti also provides training for new franchisees, to make sure they understand more about their company background. In the training, they will give out a lot of feedback and to make sure all the franchisees are ready to find their place to start the business operations for their own stores.

Besides that, Tutti Frutti provides two of types of training, first will be in own corporate which about understanding and the second is onsite training for three days. It is a training at the place where their franchisee’s location. Is to let them to know about all the manuals, operation templates and guides. They also give every franchisee a disc which contains everything taught in the training.

Franchisor was provided help from Tutti Frutti to referring them to their own network of leasing brokers this is one of their service and they are being responsible. In basically, franchises have many area or location for a franchisor to build on their own store and they were very familiar with this process and it is more effective. And this process would be maintainedevery day and easy for franchisor.

Based on franchise general agreement, when one person want to start their business they must wait for between 4-6 months and it also would take in anywhere. In a franchise agreement, there is a rule; before the franchisor start the business, the franchisor must signing in the agreement first then only they can plan about their own business.


People

The Naza group is the Tutti Frutti franchisor chairman and the place he or she start to build their store inside IOI Mall, which also where I chose to research on their store. There is where I when for more information about their outlet. But most of the interview was done at PWTC, franchise expo.

Chairman will be the higher position, which they manage most of the problem.  Ooperation executive, basically he is who manage the product. How they do promote their product is to do an activity to advertise their new product and also a poster and placed at door for easier for passenger pass by and know about the news and what they promoting. They also promote their new product by using a electric billboard inside the store. Our giving out flyer, update news on their face book, billboard, these all also is their ways to promote their new products and incoming events.

The sales executive is handling the financial. They need to count everyday how much their profit and check and lose prices of products, costs of advertising, salary of employers and so on. It like a treasurer for the store.

According to the people I interview, he told me Tutti Frutti does not provided hostel for his employees. Tutti Frutti store operate for 8hours per day. They only hired people with qualification of minimum is diploma.

Tutti frutti target market is always toward teenagers; due to this is a snack which attracts mostly kids and teenagers.
